Normans Rd - Residential Rebuild

  • Budget: > $500,000
  • Completion: May 2016
  • Architects: Bruce Rattray Architecture Ltd
  • Engineers: Geoscience
Nestled down a driveway on a gradual sloping 477m2 site, sites a newly built, traditional style home. The owners wanted to optimise the site and create a home that complemented the neighbourhood and used energy saving technology.
From the moment you enter through the electric hand crafted gates onto the exposed aggregate driveway, the ingenious use of steel and copper and other modern materials becomes apparent.
Internal access and garaging for four vehicles provides security and perfect off street solutions, whilst a specialised retaining wall using technically challenging elements of engineering maximises the available usable site area.
Meticulous detailing creates the intrigue and expectation of what may lie beyond the classical entrance.
The selection of James Hardie Linea weatherboards, the richness and warmth of the French Oak flooring and the strong statement of the industrial steel on the pergola all blends to create a true reflection of the owners; style.
The colour palette was designed to create a calm feeling in the rooms. Dulux paint colour "Brookby" was used in the scullery and laundry, providing a fresh and crisp feel to these areas.
Oustide the owners wanted a sheltered retreat where they could relax and enjoy an outdoor lifestyle. A seamless transition from indoor living to garden ensured this.

Woodlau Rise - Residential Repair

  • Budget: > $500,000
  • Completion: April 2016
  • Architects: Cymon Allfrey Architects
  • Engineers: TM Consultants
  •
Woodlau Rise was a residential home that required repairs after the earthquakes. Suffering from non-compliancy issues, water damage, cracks in the cladding, a damaged roof and windows, and a floor that was sagging and falling away this property required a challenging nine-month repair effort.
This beautiful two-level home boasts two lounges, a rumpus room and three bathrooms. Situated on a steep hillside the existing structure had to be stripped back to the framing, in stages, whilst assessing earthquake, compliance and structural issues. Then it was rebuilt to meet and exceed both Council and the homeowners expectations.
The homeowners say "We were introduced to David Whyte at Whyte's through the architect who held them in very high regard. Dave was instrumental in everything from the assessment through to the insurance side of things. The whole business was very professional as was the excellent workmanship. They met the deadline and we couldn't be happier."

Memorial Ave - Residential Rebuild

  • Budget: > $500,000
  • Completion: November 2015
  • Architects: Ad Architecture
  • Engineers: TM Consultants
  •
Memorial Ave was a residential home that required a complete rebuild after the earthquakes. It is an architecturally designed townhouse clad in hebel and cedar. With three bedrooms, two bathrooms, open plan living, modern amenities and a conservatory, it was rebuilt to new industry standards whilst retaining the 1970's feel of the building. Right down to matching the raked ceilings.
Situated up a shared driveway, this rebuild took approximately 11 months and was done with as little disruption to the neighbours as possible.
